Homework for Monday

Create 7 sentences comparing and contrasing Western and Chinese astrology. You can compare between or within the two systems.
Make sure each sentence uses a different transition: similarly, also, likewise, on the other hand, however, unlike, and in contrast to.
The assignment will help you prepare for the first draft of your first final essay of the summer.

1. Write your own sentences using the 15 rules for capitalization. Please follow the directions on the handout.
2. Look over your corrected paragraph. Put the corrections into 3 categories. 1) I can explain my mistake. I understand the grammar. 2) I think I can explain my mistake. I understand the grammar a little bit. 3) I can't explain my mistake. I don't understand the grammar.

Work on the "Practice Together" section of the capitalization worksheet.
Finish analyzing the adjectives that describe you according to Chinese astrology.

Sun Sign: Cancer

For this assignment, students were asked to write a paragraph about their sun sign according to Western astrology. They should assess the accuracy of its description of their personality. This essay was written by Queena.

According to Western astrology, my sun sign is Cancer. It says that I should be a good mother and that I love my family. I agree with these points. Besides that, I don't think I match well with the other behaviors that describe Cancer. I feel that I'm a Sagittarius because I like traveling everywhere, but Western astrology says Cancers can't live without their families. It also says that I am very clingy to my friends, but I can be alone without any problems. Western astrology is not always right. It doesn't match everyone's personality 100%. It's just a resource for fun.
